Leicestershire & Derbyshire
(Prince Albert's Own)
Yeomanry Squadron

7th  (V) Royal Anglian Regt, 1971-75
Sqn HQ Detachment
Melton Mowbray Ilkeston

The LDY PAO Squadron was formed on the 1st April 1971 from the Leicestershire & Derbyshire (PAO) Yeomanry Cadre.

The LDY PAO Squadron was a separate unit within the 7th (V) Royal Anglian Regiment.

The LDY PAO Sqn remained as part of the Royal Armoured Corps and wore it's own badges and uniforms. It's personnel carry R.A.C ranks and hold R.A.C trades. The Squadron came under R.A.C records for pay and trade classification etc. but was otherwise administered by the 7th (V) Royal Anglian Regiment.

LDY Sqn kept all it's old Regimental associations and the Squadron was commanded, initially, by Major O.F.B. Burchnall.
