Officers

Post 2012
The addition of black welts.

The Royal Yeomanry Officers wear an all green cap with black peak and a silver bullion braid to the peak. Senior and Junior officers wear the silver braid on the peak, each Squadron retains their own traditional pattern cap buttons, small plain Hussar cap buttons for B (LDYPAO) Sqn. The "Green Cap" is to represent the service of the "Sherwood Rangers Yeomanry", they traditionally wore the "all" green cap in the Other Ranks and the Officers had a yellow welt in the top of their green cap.

Other Ranks

Post 2012
The addition of black welts.

The Royal Yeomanry Other Ranks pattern cap is the same as issued to the Rifles Regiment. The Other Ranks cap differs to that of the RY Officers as it has sewn in black welts, this is a "Rifles" feature but cant be changed (The removable black mohair band of "The Rifles Regiment" has not been removed from the cap in the above picture...... it should have been). This is now the headdress of the Royal Yeomanry in No.2 dress and blues. Each RY Squadron still retains its own traditional cap buttons, small plain Hussar cap buttons for B (LDYPAO) Sqn. The "Green Cap" is to represent the service of the "Sherwood Rangers Yeomanry", they traditionally wore the "all" green cap in the Other Ranks and the Officers had a yellow welt in the top of their green cap.

After the passing of HRH the Queen Mother  the Royal Yeomanry was adopted by HRH Princess Alexandra. It was decided that in honour of this the Regiment would make uniform a cap badge of HRH Princess Alexandra's cipher. This badge has been seen before in the British Army on the 3rd (Queen Alexandra's Own) Ghurkha Rifles.
